Captain: Evangelos Chatzigiannakoudis

Evangelos Chatzigiannakoudis, our skilled Captain, hails from a lineage of islanders and has fostered a deep connection to the sea since his early childhood. Growing up as a competitive swimmer, his affinity for the ocean blossomed over the years. He pursued his passion by studying oceanography and marine mechanical engineering in the UK. In 1998, he embarked on a career at sea, earning his sailing diploma and working as a sailor and skipper for various charter and private yachts.

As a holder of an approved MCA master 200GT license for sailing and motor yachts, Evangelos brings a wealth of experience to the helm. With boundless energy, unwavering responsibility, and a strong work ethic, he ensures an unforgettable sailing holiday for all our guests. Spear diving, surfing, and swimming are just a few of his favorite sea-related activities. Fluent in English and Greek, Evangelos also holds surf instructor and lifeguard licenses.

Chef: Savvas Lichanidis

Savvas Lichanidis, a rising star among Greece's renowned chefs, was born in 1989. He honed his culinary skills at the prestigious professional school OAED and holds a degree in Fast Pace cooking. Savvas's passion for gastronomy extends to Japanese and molecular cuisine, which he further explored through seminars and workshops. His culinary journey began with internships at the esteemed King George Palace Hotel in 2005, and he steadily climbed the ranks.

In 2018, Savvas earned fourth place in Greece's Master Chef competition and served as the Chef for Michelin-starred establishments like Divani Caravel Juju Bar Restaurant, where he received the FNL Star award. Collaborating with top chefs has been an enriching experience for him. Fuelled by his love for the sea, Savvas embarked on a new venture, bringing his Michelin-guide expertise to the world of yachts. His fusion cuisine combines Greek local elements to create tantalizing dishes. Notably, Savvas secured first place in the Platinum category at MEDYS 2022.

Stewardess: Maria Mehmed

Maria Mehmed, born in Bulgaria in 1998, now resides in the picturesque Cycladic Island of Milos when she's not onboard Above & Beyond. Her profound adoration for the sea and all things related prompted her to obtain her sailing license. Two years ago, she transitioned into the yachting industry after gaining extensive customer service experience in hotels as a receptionist, accountant, and waitress.

With a genuine kindness and professionalism, Maria excels in customer care, always ready to assist guests with a bright smile. A team player through and through, she navigates the yacht with ease, demonstrating her diligence and determination to elevate her skills. Fluent in Bulgarian, Greek, and English, she also possesses a working knowledge of Turkish and basic French.

Deckhand: Vasileios Papoutsoglou

Vasileios Papoutsoglou, born in Athens in 1993 and currently residing in Piraeus, embarked on his sailing journey at the young age of seven in the Optimist class. He achieved numerous national and international victories throughout his sailing career, progressing from the 420 class to the 470 Olympic class. Since 2005, Vasileios has been a proud member of the Greek National Team, participating in the Pre-Olympic team for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. His accomplishments include the title of Current National Champion in the Class 470 Olympic.

In 2018, Vasileios transitioned to working as a deckhand on yachts, bringing his expertise and accomplishments to support the crew in running the vessel smoothly. Devoted to providing guests

with an unforgettable experience, he exemplifies impeccable service and dedication. Fluent in French and English, Vasileios ensures effective communication on board.

Deckhand: Damien Garnier

Hailing from France, Damien Garnier is a multilingual and passionate sailor who prioritizes the guests' experience. With a career spanning back to 2003 in the yachting sector, he possesses extensive knowledge of sailing in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean Sea. Damien holds an RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Diploma, showcasing his proficiency in boat systems, equipment, and technical expertise as a Boat Maintenance Technician with a strong grasp of electrical systems.

Fluent in French, English, Spanish, and Italian, Damien ensures effective communication with guests from various backgrounds. His expertise and technical skills contribute to the smooth operation of the yacht, creating a seamless and enjoyable journey for all on board.
